Nine favorite 'us' things in honor of our 9th anniversary this month--
  • We watch Downton Abbey together (seriously). Watching Masterpiece Sunday nights is us:  Girls to bed, popcorn popped, lemonade chilled, and Dame Maggie shaking her little head at everyone.
    • PS - We started watching Downton from day 1 before it was cool.
    • PPS - No comments about Downton not being cool - get over yourselves, put on your English tweeds and start watching.

  • We can talk about anything and we do.
    • The other night I saw a few Instagram pictures that triggered some envy/regret about my own life not being good enough.  It wasn't something I was going to talk about cause I wasn't that upset. But Bryce sensed something was off and asked.  Normally I would've said "I'm good" and changed the subject.  But instead of glossing over stuff, I shared my thoughts, which I was embarrassed to share because to me they sounded a little trivial.  He listened and validated my feelings.  It was a short conversation but it meant a lot to me.
    • I'm learning to set aside my tech and other busyness when he wants to talk and just focus.  I feel like I can listen either way but I'm learning that he feels most listened to if I'm not multitasking.
  • We understand each other about 80% of the time naturally.
  • The rest of the time we really try to understand the other. Most of the time we're successful.
  • We both have sarcastic, anti-social and mischievous tendencies.
  • We like to cook together.

Mise en place
  • “A successful marriage requires falling in love over and over again, always with the same person” ― Mignon McLaughlin

Even from just the sound of your voice on the phone in the morning or late at night......you rock my world Eva.

  • Bryce wants to take me to the snow but in the meantime, teaches me about half-pipe skiing.
  • We try to be better and we forgive. Some days are more successful than others on this.  I really hate the days when my weaknesses are at the forefront.  But then I remember that we're not perfect at all, through Christ I can change, and in the meantime, it's ok to be patient with myself.

The "real" shot: On our anniversary night, snuggies and all.
